American Eagle Outfitters (NASDAQ: AEOS) is a leading lifestyle retailer that designs, markets, and sells its own brand of relaxed, versatile clothing for 16 to 34 year-olds, providing high-quality merchandise at affordable prices. AE's Canadian subsidiary, Bluenotes/Thriftys, targets a slightly younger demographic, offering a more urban/suburban, denim-driven collection for 12 to 22 year-olds. American Eagle Outfitters currently operates 687 AE stores in 48 states and the District of Columbia, 56 AE stores in Canada, and 111 Bluenotes/Thriftys stores in Canada. When American Eagle Outfitters started to develop and open stores in Canada using their CRS DOS based POS system, they realized they needed to offer debit to their Canadian customers. When they were unable to add debit functionality to their existing switch they turned to Tender Retail for a solution. Tender Retail's Merchant Connect Multi supported their existing CRS DOS based thin client POS. In conjunction with Precidia Technologies's IP enabling hardware Tender Retail was able to deliver a certified solution in six weeks to all the American Eagle Outfitters stores in Canada.

This enabled American Eagle Outfitters to offer debit as a payment method as well as eliminate capital cost resources to upgrade their DOS based POS software to Windows.
