Tender Retail Systems has announced a partnership with Wendy's International, Inc., one of the world's largest quick service restaurant chains, to implement new debit and credit payment platforms in Wendy's company owned restaurants across Canada.
Utilizing Tender Retail's Merchant Connect suite of electronic payment middleware, Wendy's restaurants will now be able to handle a multitude of payment methods - including debit, credit and eventually gift cards while taking advantage of the most cost-effective payment processors, all with a 2-3 second transaction turnaround.
"It's been proven time and time again that the features offered by Merchant Connect lead to quicker customer throughput," relates Tender Retail President Steve Brook. "Wendy's will definitely benefit from this integration in terms of flexibility and customer satisfaction."
The agreement marks a promising entry for Tender Retail into the quick service food sector. The Toronto based company controls approximately 70% of the integrated payment solutions market in other Canadian retail verticals and is now targeting the $13 billion a year quick service food segment for future expansion.
"The core advantages of our Merchant Connect software - its adaptability, scalability and reliability - become even more pronounced in a high volume environment like fast food," continues Mr. Brook. "We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Wendy's and introduce these benefits into a whole new arena."
It was the well-established core infrastructure of the Merchant Connect suite that ultimately won over Wendy's. Neil Lester, Senior Vice President at Wendy's of Canada said, "Tender Retail has been doing this a long time and they're the best at what they do. They presented us with the industry standard in transaction technology and their product integrated into our existing POS system with minimal development time and cost."
In addition, the integration of Tender Retail's Merchant Connect allows Wendy's to be at the forefront in preparing for the pending introduction of EMV (chip) technology by card providers. Scheduled to roll out over the next few years, the new technology will significantly alter card payment processes at POS stations. In keeping with its history as the industry leader, Tender Retail's Merchant Connect suite of solutions has already been adapted to effectively manage this upcoming conversion, allowing Wendy's and other partners to take full advantage of these new payment methods
