Tender Retail has created, through its Merchant Connect Suite of Products – Merchant Connect Verified by Visa (MCVBV). Verified By Visa is a VISA International initiative designed to reduce online merchant fraud. Customers making purchases online will be using a secret code with their VISA credit cards, similar to those used with ATM bank cards. When customers make online purchases, they use their credit card and secret code over a secure connection with their issuing bank. The bank then signs the transaction and passes this signature to the merchant to positively identify the customer.

The benefit of Verified by Visa is that it improves the security of payment transactions in the electronic commerce environment. It is designed to improve both cardholder and merchant confidence in Internet purchases as well as to reduce disputes and unauthorized use of Visa payment cards.

The MCVBV plug-in is available to VISA members to purchase as required. We provide the plug-in on a per license basis with the necessary implementation and ongoing customer support. This software module is easily installed via a new license or an upgrade to an existing license that creates a window for the cardholder at the merchant's shopping cart. By using a personal password that the consumer creates, Verified by Visa helps ensure that only the owner of the card can use his/her Visa card to purchase online.

Once Verified by Visa is activated, the customer's card will be recognized when they purchase at participating online stores. Customers will be asked for their password, their identity will be verified, and the transaction completed. For online stores that are not yet participating in Verified by Visa, the customer's Visa card will continue to work as usual. Look for the Verified by Visa symbol, displayed at many participating online stores.
